284.4. Lunges: 24” – 20; 18” – 80.
Guitar practice went okay today.
It seems having gotten 7 hours of sleep for the past three nights has been helping; instead of my usual 6-6 ½. Today is going to be a day shortened by 6 hours, though. I work early tomorrow, 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
I have a few thoughts about the so-called “George Floyd” protests. What happened to George Floyd was wrong. Period. I don’t care what color the police officer was, or what color George Floyd was; what happened was just plain wrong. To my understanding, all four police officers involved in that incident were fired and charges were brought against the one police officer who actually killed George Floyd. When this officer is tried, convicted, and sentenced, justice will be served for George Floyd. I believe that the other three officers were also responsible and should be charged, and hopefully convicted accordingly.
I won’t pretend to know why the officer who killed George Floyd did so, or why the other officers just stood by and let him. It almost makes me wonder if there isn’t something else behind this incident.
I understand people wanting to make sure justice is served, and that problems with our police departments are addressed. Peaceful protesting is one way to draw attention to the problems. But I have to ask, what is to be gained by people destroying businesses, cities, and the lives of others in a violent manner when they are supposed to be protesting against unnecessary violence?
Therein lies the rub. I believe there is a core group of people who want to truly address the problem of unnecessary brutality of police officers. As a former Military Police Officer in the 82nd Airborne Division, I understand some of the problems many Police Officers face while doing their job. I also understand that there are those individuals, and even groups of individuals who became Police Officers just to satisfy their own egos and to have extra control over others. These particular individuals and groups of individuals need to be rooted out and removed from the ranks of our Police Departments.
Noting that the Police Officer who killed George Floyd was white and that George Floyd was black can raise the reasonable question, is that officer a racist? He may be, he also may not be. He may very well have ended up doing that to a person of European, Asian, or Hispanic descent had he not done it to George Floyd first. I don’t know, and I won’t pretend to.
The violence that is currently being committed as an outpouring from these protests, I believe, is not the intent of the actual protesters, but of malicious thugs who have decided to take advantage of the situation in order to cause violent unrest in our communities and that they are being directed by various groups who have a deep seated hatred against freedom and the United States of America. Many of these people are coming in from other states, and reportedly, some groups are even recruiting and paying people to join in the violence and mayhem. There are individual people and groups in this United States that hate our country, hate our Constitution, hate our individuality, and hate our freedom, and strongly desire to control every part of every one of our lives. The utter ridiculousness of various governors and mayors ordering police to stand down, or stand by and watch is utterly absurd. The media that so enjoys justifying this violence, in my opinion, is just as guilty of mayhem and wanton destruction as the individuals and groups physically committing the crimes.
I have an adult son, who tonight is working in a grocery store in Portage, Indiana. They are closing his store at 4:00 p.m. in order to protect the employees. However, he, because he is a manager, is being required to stay there to let in the night stocking crew. I think the store should never have been opened today, and that nobody should go back to the store until opening tomorrow morning. I think they have plans to stack pallets in front of the doors and windows to protect the building, but I don’t see them having enough to do so. I don’t know if things will get violent in Portage, Indiana. It seems that a few days ago there was a protest in Valparaiso, Indiana, where 120 protesters showed up, but it seems they were real protesters and not the thugs we see looting and rioting on the television, and there were no incidents whatsoever.
I believe the people behind these violent displays of hatred should be tracked down, arrested, and imprisoned as subversives attempting to undermine the peace and tranquility of our nation and our populace.
Further to the point, we wrestle not against flesh and blood enemies, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
The core battle we are fighting here is a spiritual battle, in a spiritual war. Our two best weapons are love and prayer. We must love the LORD our GOD with all our hearts, with all our souls, with all our minds, and with all our strength. We must also love our neighbors as we love our very selves. We must do good to them that hate us, bless them that curse us, and pray for them that despitefully use us and persecute us. We must pray for those people who would be our enemies, because whether they understand it or not, they are being used by the eternal enemies of our souls to draw our country into chaos and destroy us.
I pray for Almighty GOD to protect my son tonight as he does his job. I also pray that Almighty GOD convicts those who may come to do violence and evil of the evilness of their hearts and reveals to them His Eternal Goodness and His Purpose for them being on this earth, and the good He created them to do.
By the time anyone reads this, the events will have already taken place. I wonder what will happen. Almighty GOD of all creation, have mercy on our souls and help us in this time of need. In LORD Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
