Breakfast Teaching: Welcome Home: How To Come Home with Pastor Robert Morris
Today I work a shift that starts two and a half hours later. This allowed me to get a little extra sleep last night. I spent a little time talking with Anita when I got home, so I did not get as much sleep as I could have; talking with her was worth it. I got about seven hours fifteen minutes of sleep.
Guitar practice went okay. I’m working on a lesson piece called Star Catcher that works on artificial harmonics along with natural harmonics.
Read Luke 5:4-11.
Simon Peter, James (Jacob), and John had fished all night, casting their nets and pulling them back in; hard, arduous work. And yet they caught nothing. LORD Jesus tells Simon Peter to take Him out from shore a bit so He can teach the mass of people gathered. After LORD Jesus finishes teaching, He tells Simon Peter to launch out into the deep and cast out his nets. An exhausted Simon Peter, who had been awake since the day before, worked arduously all through the night, and listened to LORD Jesus’ teaching was likely exhausted and exasperated at LORD Jesus’ instructions, but because ow Who LORD Jesus IS, Simon Peter, along with his business partners, James and John, launch out into the deep waters. Much to Simon Peter’s amazement, the net was so full he had to call for James and John to pull their boat alongside to help; and even then the catch was so great it almost sank both boats. When Simon Peter realized what was happening he threw himself down at LORD Jesus feet and begged LORD Jesus to depart from him because he, Simon Peter, was a sinful man and not worthy to be in LORD Jesus Presence.
This brings to mind the Holy Scripture that Almighty GOD will display His Goodness to Israel, and that Goodness would cause the surrounding nations to tremble.
Jeremiah 33:6-9 Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. (7) And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first. (8) And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me. (9) And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it. (KJV, Bold Emphasis Added)
Does the display of Almighty GOD’s Goodness in our lives cause others to tremble? If not, I would say we need to grow closer and more intimate and more obedient to Almighty GOD. I confess. I need to.
