As human beings, when we are under pressure and stress, we speak what we speak because it is what is abundant in our hearts; for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaksi. We may become very practiced at hiding what is in our hearts, even from ourselves, but the truth still stands, out of the abundance of our hearts, our mouth speaks.
We must also take into consideration:
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Think about this for a few minutes, please. Death itself, and life itself; they are both in power of the tongue. The phrase “in the power” from the Hebrew “yâd” means “in the hand” or “in the grasp” ofii. We normally do not see a human being speaking death to another and seeing the person being spoken to die on the spot. However, we regularly see people come in line in behavior and health with what is spoken to them, or over them and their life, over time. On occasion, we see people instantly healed when life and health is spoken to them and their body, or over them and their life, in line with the WORD Of GOD. Why do you think this is? I believe it is because we are created in the image and likeness of our Creator.iii
Take note also what our LORD Jesus Christ has said concerning this topic:
Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. (Bold emphasis added)
Do we love to talk and speak? Do we speak what we believe? We must be very careful in this area, because we are created in the image and likeness of our Creator. We are created to speak things into existence. What will we yield our tongue, mouth, and lips to? What will the fruit of our tongue, mouth, and lips be? We must become practiced at speaking life and blessing instead of death and cursing. We must purpose to train our tongue, mouth, and lips to speak the WORD Of GOD. Most of our lives we have been taught and trained to speak the things and beliefs of this world, the things of sickness, doubt, worry, anxiety, depression, disbelief, death, and destruction. We must purpose within our hearts to train our tongue, mouth, and lips to speak the WORD Of GOD instead of the words of this world and its corrupting god.
Thus, a Daily Recitation becomes of great benefit over time. Holy Scripture tells us:
James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Truly, we cannot tame the tongue, but we can train it to speak the WORD Of GOD. And with a Daily Recitation, we will also be planting seed in our hearts so that eventually what is abundant in our hearts will be the WORD Of GOD so that when we come under pressure it is the WORD Of GOD that will come out of our hearts and be spoken by our ready and trained tongue, mouth, and lips; all to the glory of Almighty GOD.
